CJS Kick Off Interfirms Campaign with Thrilling Victory Over Dublin Fire Brigade

CJS opened their hashtagInterfirms campaign with an impressive four-point victory over Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB) in a thrilling, high-scoring clash at Leixlip GAA’s Centre of Excellence. Despite wet and challenging conditions, both teams showcased exceptional skill and determination, with CJS emerging victorious 4-17 to 5-10.

From the outset, CJS set the tone, registering 1-1 in the opening minutes. However, DFB fought back, making it a fiercely contested encounter. Shane Phelan was solid in the CJS defence, denying DFB crucial late-game opportunities, while Conor Walsh dominated midfield, driving his team forward. Up front, Dan Delaney shone, consistently finding his range with vital scores.

Referee John Dunning’s excellent officiating allowed the game to flow, enhancing the free flow of play. CJS’s energy and composure in the final stages were pivotal, as manager Diarmuid Cahill praised their fitness and determination. “For our first game, I’m very pleased,” he said, “but there’s still room for improvement and we’ll be addressing those areas at training this week.”

CJS now prepares for another stern test against the Dublin Educational Board next Thursday at Abbottstown. It promises to be another competitive fixture as CJS continues to build momentum early in the season.
