Dr. John Fitzgerald, Professor at TCD visits CJS

This week CJ Sheeran Timber Packaging and Pallets were delighted to welcome a great friend and ally of Irish forestry to our Laois facilities, Dr. John Fitzgerald, Professor at the Department of Economics in Trinity College Dublin.
John met with MD of Coolrain Sawmills ltd Declan Hutchinson, MD of the CJS Group Mark Sheeran & Ashleigh Doyle, Director of the CJS Group. The visit included a trip to our #sawmills, our #pallet manufacturing facility and our pallet recovery facility and also to a #forest in the area to observe the #harvesting of Irish #timber in the local community.
“The importance of forestry in our community cannot be overstated with hundreds of families dependant the sector for an income stream – from small farmers to planters to harvesters to sawmills to pallet manufacturers and also several other sections of the industry flourishing in the area”, said Declan Hutchinson. “The recent issues surrounding the harvesting and licensing of timber must be resolved in order to restore confidence in Irish forestry and to get planting back on track so as to meet targets set by the Government”, added Mark Sheeran.
