FSC® Approval for CJS

Leading Pallet and Crate Manufacturer, C J  Sheeran Limited, has achieved Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) Certification – the only pallet manufacturing company in Ireland to do so. A new EU adopted Timber Regulation (EUTR) to combat trade in illegally harvested timber came into effect on Sunday, 3rd March 2013. The regulation will prohibit the placing of illegally harvested timber and timber products on the EU market and places an obligation of “due diligence” on timber traders who will face severe penalties if they trade in illegal timber. FSC® Chain of Custody plays an important role in the risk assessment according to EUTR. FSC is a global, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion of responsible forest management not only in Ireland but worldwide and enables business and consumers to make informed choices about forest products they buy. FSC® certified forest products, such as sawn timber used in all pallets manufactured by CJ Sheeran Limited, are verified from the forest of origin through the supply chain.
