Industry Collaboration Drives Momentum for Saw Doctor Apprenticeship

We were delighted to recently host the kick-off meeting for the proposed Saw Doctor Apprenticeship. Expertly coordinated and chaired by Michael Delaney, the meeting brought together strong industry representation from across Ireland and the UK, including Saw Doctors, #sawmills, saw service companies, #Ibec, Forest Industries Ireland, #Coillte and academic partners Technological University of the Shannon. The high level of engagement clearly demonstrated the demand for this programme and the value placed on this skilled trade.
Discussions highlighted the essential role Saw Doctors play in maintaining an efficient and reliable timber supply chain, supporting essential sectors such as #pallets, #fencing and #construction. There was a shared commitment to establishing a structured #apprenticeship to safeguard this specialist expertise and ensure a #sustainable pipeline of #talent for the future.
