Dermot O’Neill – farewell to a fond friend of CJS

Dermot O’Neill came to our offices in Shanderry in Coolrain in 2001 looking for fencing for his new project in Clondeglass in Camross.  I’d got a call from someone to tip me off that he was on the way and had been let down by a competitor and to look after him. Anyways, in comes Dermot and the red carpet was out. We sent out our crack team headed up by Johnny Conroy and Dermot was sorted out in no time with fencing, gates, mulch and muscle.
Dermot was a very decent and good man and never forgot to promote us anyway he could after that. We appeared on Live at Three, The Garden Living Magazine, on Radio with a Pat Kenny slot he had on gardening and eventually his own very successful show on RTÉ featuring his world famous Clondeglass Walled Garden. His Dad and Mam helped hugely in Clondeglass and were hugely supportive to Dermot over the years.Dermot became a good friend to all in CJS and he never failed to be supportive and helpful when we needed it the most. Dermot was a good and inherently decent man. He couldn’t help it.
